Camp!

We had a great time at camp. Our class was split into two different travel groups, Red and Yellow. All of our girls were in Ewing 2. Most of our boys were in Searles 2. Four boys were in Searles 4. Our cabin leaders were Allie, Courtney, Grayson, Thomas, Alex, and Ethan. They were a lot of fun. They had to make up the work they missed while they were gone.

We liked Star Lab, Gimme Shelter, and Horse Ride best. Some of us liked the Underground Railroad evening activity, but some thought it was too realistic. Most of us liked campfire, especially "The Candy Store" and Thomas doing "Ice, Ice, Baby!" That was followed by a short night hike, where we looked at the night sky and played "Bat and Moth." We also ate "moon rocks", which are Wintogreen lifesavers. They spark when you chew them.

We liked the horse ride. (All but Jacob went on the ride. He got on a horse in horse sense.) We played "Red Light, Green Light" on horses, got them to reverse the rotation, reached for heads and tails, and rode one handed. It was so much fun!

Enrichment

Blissfield Elementary has two different programs for enrichment. One of them is choir. Third, fourth, and fifth graders can join choir. We do a Christmas concert and a spring concert. The spring concert this year will be at St. Peter's Church, because it is for the community. We were supposed to do that concert earlier, but flooding in town cancelled the concert.

Recorder Ensemble is just for fifth graders. All fourth and fifth graders play soprano recorders in music. Fifth graders get to play bass, alto, or sopranino recorders. The bass is really big. The alto is smaller than the bass but larger that the soprano. The sopranino is little with a high pitch. We play at the fifth grade concert and the spring concert. We will also play at the nursing home.

Mr. Barrus is the music teacher. He is the best!
